Tips & Tricks
Get more out of every session with these proven strategies.
Drill at the same time every day
Habits stick when they're tied to an existing routine. Try drilling right after your morning coffee or during your commute. Consistency matters more than intensity.
Use voice input whenever possible
Speaking words out loud activates different neural pathways than typing. The more you practice retrieving words verbally, the faster they'll come to you in real conversations.
Don't repeat the same category every day
Variety trains your brain more broadly. Rotate through different categories throughout the week so you're exercising different word groups and associations.
Focus on speed, not perfection
The goal is fast retrieval, not a perfect list. Don't overthink — just say the first words that come to mind. The pressure is the point. It trains your brain to respond under real-life conditions.
Review your word list after each session
After the timer ends, look at the words you named. Notice any patterns — categories you find easy or hard. This reflection cements the learning and highlights what to focus on next.
Try to beat your personal best
Competing against yourself is one of the most effective motivators. Each session, aim to beat your previous high score by even one word. Small improvements compound significantly over time.
Don't skip more than one day
Missing a single day is fine. Missing two in a row starts to break the habit. If you miss a day, treat the next session as non-negotiable. Keep the streak alive.
Pair it with a real-world challenge
After your drill, try to use 3–5 of those words naturally in conversation or writing that day. This bridges the gap between training and real-life fluency.
